An idea for CF'10

For CF'10 I'm thinking about having the 2 days prior open to wives, kids, girlfriends, etc.
So that would be Tues and Wed for guests, then Thurs-Sunday for CF. Thoughts?

checking dates for '10

I'm thinking the weekend between Fathers Day and July 4th. It's worked the past 2 years and, while some won't be able to make it, it seems to be the best for the majority of CF attendees. Not sure I'll have the time or energy to grow CF this year and, honestly, I think last year is about as big as I want it to ever get. Quality, not quantity, eh? Check back here in a month or so for firm dates. cyl. - El Jefe de Cabinfest

2 weeks, baby!

Cabinfest only comes around once a year. It's fun because of the people that come and what they bring to the table. I have so many great memories of what we've done and the funny things that have been said over the years. So, hotshot, what are you bringing to the table this year? A fun new game, a cocktail recipe to share with the group (I'll be bringing the 2nd 1/2 of the Absinthe bottle from last year, lol), a campfire story that doesn't involve a Posche red camaro and some young hussy?
We're all so glad you're coming this year, but what are you bringing?

If you're looking to share a ride to/from CF, post it here:

In Defense of The Golden Cabin

The team of Kozusko/Neilsen will be back to defend their Golden Cabin win last year. Interestly, both PhillyP and Andy Ioele will also be back. And you thought '08 was "shrouded in controversy"?
Should we all have the option of keeping the same teammate as last year?

Keg beer for all!!!

In an effort to reduce trash and open up some additional cooler space for food , Cabinfest will be supplying beer this year. The plan is a keg each of Fat Tire and Coors Light (2 Colorado favorites). All attendees will be asked to chip in $10 or $15 (and a bag or 2 of ice). I think I've got a couple of pitchers - if you've got one laying around, it might come in handy so please bring yours as well.
5 weeks, baby!

I freakin' love this pic!

Cabinfest now has a Facebook page

Search it out on Facebook - type in Cabinfest Apalooza and send in a friend request. If you're a "friend" you're in!

New Belgium Brewery a possible Sponsor!

With a little luck we could be enjoying tasty beer from New Belgium Brewery. I have submitted an application for a sponsorship and now we wait. In the meantime, feel free to add a post about how much you love Fat Tire, Sunshine Wheat, Blue Paddle, etc. I can taste it now!

The Cat's Outta The Bag!

The current economic climate has many of us hovering somewhere between nervous and downright hurting. During times like these, some time away with the boys can be just what the doctor ordered. Unfortunately that's not always possible. Not possible until CabinAide, that is!
A couple of months ago, a few of us started discussing a concept that would bring folks to our annual gathering that might be hesitant or unable to attend. The idea became reality and, after much deliberation and planning, it was recently announced that the first recipient of CabinAide will be none other than the legendary Tony Ginko. Tony had previously offered up his left nut to be a part of Cabinfest and that was deemed unnecessary. Tony will enjoy an all expense trip to Buffalo Creek, CO for CF'09! Congratulations Tony - we are all excited to have you there this year!
To all of you that helped make this happen, thanks for your efforts!

CF '09 is just 122 days away

The dates of June 25-28, 2009 are a lock for CF '09. It's the weekend between Father's Day and 4th of July. Details will get dialed in as we get closer. Some of the things that are on tap:

-Lobster/Seafood Boil on the 1st night. Crawdaddy Trapper - Is late June too early to pull out some mudbugs from Nottingham?
-A proposed All Water, Cabinfest Relay. There are now 2 kayaks to go along with the canoes and paddle boats. No one liked the uphill trudge to chug so festivities by the lake makes more sense. Batman and Matty K did such a fine job designing and organizing in '08 that they have been asked back to oversee this year's event.
-CabinAide (you'll have to wait and see on this).
-GoldenCabin goes in for engraving this week. Yes, Andy and Phil, there will be an asterisk
-Brad B. (builder of the bunk beds) is bringing tools for the first Cabinfest building project since Matt D's epic ladder effort in '06.
-There will be a select group of FNG's this year. Mums the word on initiation, wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean, hmm, hmm?! Those repeated no-shows will find themselves without an invite. (I'm sure an offering to the CF gods will put them back in good graces).
-A new moon and a high liklihood of above average meteor activity could make for some evening fun - along with more carnage on the midnight hikes! Don't forget your headlamp!
-More "Sit & Go" Texas Hold 'em tourneys. I really liked that format last year. Bring your Hamilton's and Jackson's.

If you've got some other bright ideas (Wiffle Ball; Flashlight Tag, Wine Tasting, etc., etc.) please post them here!
